Subepithelial immunobullous disease
WebBullous Pemphigoid (BP) is a blistering disease of the skin caused by autoantibodies directed against skin proteins that connect the epidermis and the dermis. BP causes blisters, itching and sometimes pain. The majority of patients with BP experience remission within five years of initial diagnosis, but sometimes the disorder relapses. WebImmunobullous diseases are significantly life threatening and potentially fatal. Disease specific mortality estimates are 2-3 times higher compared with the general population. The principal immunobullous disorders are pemphigus, pemphigoid (including linear IgA disease), epidermolysis bullosa acquisita (EBA), and dermatitis herpetiformis.
